Biomolecule Banks Platform

In order to screen novel drug candidates, banks consisting of different sources will be established. Materials to be used for the establishment of these banks include extracts from selected plant species, isolated biological molecules, and chemicals to be synthesized within the course of the projects, other synthetic molecular libraries to be purchased, recombinant proteins and monoclonal antibodies to be raised against cancer-specific proteins. These banks will be used for the screening of cancer-specific drug candidates during the project. The established banks (plant-derived or synthetic chemicals, recombinant proteins, monoclonal antibodies, recombinant lenti-viruses etc.) will be continiously active, and the molecules stored in the bank will have economic and scientific value in all aspects of drug screening technologies. Furthermore recombinant proteins and recombinant lentiviruses for therapeutic purpose will be prepared and obtained. Selected targeted recombinant proteins will be used as antigens for producing monoclonal antibodies, and among obtained antibodies those which react to native forms of antigens will be selected for further studies.

Biomolecule Banks Platform consists of three groups:
RNAi Bank Group (Bilkent U.) - Dr. Uygar Tazebay
Recombinant Protein Bank Group (Bilkent U.) - Dr. Uygar Tazebay
Monoclonal Antibody Bank Group (Bilkent U.) - Dr. Tamer Yağcı
