Synthetic Chemical Molecule Banks obtained via combinatorial chemistry and Herbal Extracts Banks isolated from plants and microorganisms will be used for the screening of drug candidates. Commercial access to Synthetic Chemical Molecule Banks is easy. On the other hand, our country is in an ideal situation for creating Natural Chemical Molecule Banks with a repertoire of 10.000 herbal species, 3.000 endemic and 350 medicinal plants. Tens of centers working on this sort of natural chemicals exist in our country but not a center for testing their bioactivities or a Natural Chemical Molecule Bank exists. In short, the rich plant-derived gene sources of our country can not be evaluated sufficiently.
Synthetic chemical resources will be synthesized in this project and chemical libraries will be purchased from commercial suppliers.
